Are you ready for Oktoberfest in November? Then come join the Chicago Oracle Users Group for our next meeting on Thursday, November 1st from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. This meeting will be sponsored by Promatis and located at the most delicious German restaurant in the area, Schnitzel Platz in Glendale Heights.

We have two great presentations lined up! The first presentation is on the topic of GDPR – The European General Data Protection Regulation presented by Glenn Iwata and Jessica Anderson. The second presentation will be by Oracle ACE Director, Jim Czuprynski on Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW): This Droid Isn’t Looking For You.

Are you not going to Oracle OpenWorld 2018 this year? Not a problem! We’ll have an ACE briefing with the highlights of this year’s OpenWorld!

This event will include dinner and we will have raffle prizes at the end of the meeting.

Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW): This Droid Isn’t Looking For You, Jim Czuprynski, Oracle ACE Director, Zero Defect Computing, Inc

Introduced in Oracle 18c, the Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW) provides a tightly-controlled, Cloud-based environment for application workloads focused on analytic reporting and data warehousing. We’ll take a look at a fully provisioned instance of Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud and the impacts of several benchmarks and experiments to find out the details how best to take advantage of ADW features, as well as understand precisely what ADW means for the role of Oracle DBA in the near- and long-term.

Through presentations and online demonstrations, this session explains:

– What features ADW brings to bear for the busy Oracle DBA

– What’s going on underneath the covers of ADW

– What ADW can realistically provide for your Oracle shop … and what it can’t

– When a workload is ready to migrate to ADW … and when it’s not
